I started my real estate journey in 2012 after more than 20 years as a Paralegal. They say situation happen “for us” not “to us”. I believe that to be true in this case because in 1985 I went to a real estate brokerage in Ohio because I wanted to become a Realtor®, Their response was “it’s a very cut throat business and you’d be better served doing something else that fits your personality”. I was disappointed, however with the encouragement of my Uncle I enrolled in classes to become a Paralegal. He is an attorney and CPA. As chance would have it, I moved to Las Vegas in 2009 got a job working for a gaming company in their Patent & Trademark Department. A few years later got laid off and with the push of my Aunt and Cousin got my Real Estate License.
And here I am!! All set for the real estate world with all the knowledge and skills I used as a Paralegal. The ability to read and negotiate contracts; skills to problem solve; the art of listening to what someone is really saying or asking; the ability to be a liaison between all parties; the knack for follow-up and meeting deadlines before they pass; an eye for detail and accuracy; the know-how and importance of precise communication; and the integrity of confidentiality.
My goal, in any career, has been to be the best I could be in that field. So, it didn’t take long to get actively involved at whatever level I could to know more about the real estate industry.
