Mary Musso

“Looking back, the growth of Las Vegas in the early 2000’s was so fast and furious that I feel we lost the sense of community here in Las Vegas. My new goal moving forward now is to enhance and foster that sense of community again and pass on to our children the ideal of the American Dream. The renewed emphasis on Las Vegas’ downtown, the new Smith Center for the Arts and other projects that will revitalize the city are things we need here in Las Vegas.” The speaker is Mary C. Musso, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Distinctive Homes of Las Vegas. A native of Indianapolis who moved to Cleveland when she was 10, Musso majored in business management at Strayer College in Washington, DC. She recalls, “When I moved to Las Vegas in 1979 there were fewer than 200,000 people here. They had just extended the 95 to Jones and there was nothing west of Rainbow. There was no Lakes, Summerlin or Sun City. It was such a small community. It was very different than it is today.” Mary then worked in property management and, in 1986, went on her own as a property manager and leasing agent for retail space. When she went on maternity leave she was fired and, ultimately, went into real estate sales. She decided to take charge of her own destiny with her entrepreneurial spirit.‘It if was meant to be, it was going to be me’ to accomplish her success. At Coldwell Banker she was in the top five percent of salespeople within the first 6 months. She stayed there for four years and, by then a single parent, she moved on to Realty Executives, where her success continued to flourish for the next ten years. In 2000 Mary started in new homes as the Broker for Distinctive Homes and met her husband, Anthony J. Musso who has been in business in Las Vegas since 1980.
